NEW YORK—September 12, 2022—Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna LLP is pleased to announce that founding partner Adam Ziffer has been named a Law360 MVP for insurance. The award recognizes attorneys who have distinguished themselves from their peers by securing hard-earned successes in high-stakes litigation, complex global matters, and record-breaking deals in the last year. Ziffer is one of only five lawyers recognized nationally in the insurance category this year.
Over the course of his decades-long career, Ziffer has led landmark litigation cases that have resulted in significant recoveries for policyholders and changed the course of law. Nationally and internationally known for his successful litigation and arbitration strategies and execution, Ziffer represents policyholders in actions for damages and declaratory relief and counsels clients on a range of insurance-related issues.
In one precedent-setting matter, Ziffer won a landmark decision on behalf of TIAA-CREF that determined that settlements of civil disgorgement claims are insurable under New York law. He also secured a first-of-its-kind summary judgment ruling for Medidata Solutions Inc., in which the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York recognized the company’s entitlement to coverage under a commercial crime insurance policy for a computer fraud loss; the decision was affirmed on appeal by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
This is the second time Ziffer has received this honor from Law360. Ziffer has also been recognized on an individual level by Chambers, Benchmark Litigation, and Legal 500. He has also been named an Elite Boutique Trailblazer and a Litigation Trailblazer by The National Law Journal.
