November 1, 2021— Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna LLP is pleased to announce that founding partner Adam Ziffer has been recognized as a 2021 “Litigation Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal. Ziffer is one of only 25 individuals honored in this year’s Litigation Trailblazers report.
Over the course of his decades-long career, Ziffer has led landmark litigation cases that have resulted in significant recoveries for policyholders and changed the course of law. Nationally and internationally known for his successful litigation and arbitration strategies and execution, Ziffer represents policyholders in actions for damages and declaratory relief and counsels clients on a range of insurance-related issues.
In one groundbreaking case, Ziffer secured a first-of-its-kind summary judgment ruling for Medidata Solutions Inc., in which the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York recognized the company’s entitlement to coverage under a commercial crime insurance policy for a computer fraud loss; the decision was affirmed on appeal by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In another precedent-setting matter, Ziffer won a landmark decision on behalf of TIAA-CREF that determined that settlements of civil disgorgement claims are insurable under New York law.
As a result of his achievements on behalf of policyholders in the insurance space, Ziffer has been recognized on an individual level by Chambers, Benchmark Litigation, Legal 500, and Law360. Earlier this year, Cohen Ziffer was selected as the New York Law Journal’s 2021 Insurance Litigation Department of the Year for the firm’s precedent-setting litigation wins on behalf of policyholders, as well as its pioneering work on Covid-19-related coverage lawsuits.
